Brothren and sistren,

We come to you from sexy Wheelersburg, Ohio – a heck of a place, a speck of a place, a little piece of heaven off Route 52. We have seen two baseball games! On Saturday we sat in the bleachers at Camden Yards with The Bird (see photo), and saw the Orioles beat those dirty Rays. And today we were privy to viewing a stirring victory by the West Virginia Power over those nasty Lexington Legends at Charleston’s Appallacchia Power Park. We learned to heckle, and love again. So far Gay’s presence has resulted in two home team wins. One more and the New York Times will write a trending piece on us. Check out this Sunday’s style section to see Cam modeling the bright yellow t-shirt he bought at today’s game.

The second mini-leg of Gay’s International Tour is gearing up, with shows in Lafayette, Chicago, Detroit, and London.

This post is toast!

New York/Baltimore/Charleston:

Hey kids,

Da gang is waking up after a nifty little gig in Brooklyn (believe the hype!).

Boston was a gosh darn treat. Whitehaus, we love you to Death by Audio, Brooklyn’s niftiest sound cave. It’s the kind of place that really makes Neil think…about caterpillars. We’re keeping it classy by staying in a four-star hotel in Manhattan called Bruce’s Burmese Brothel, and are having a hell of a good time!

Paul is showering, Neil is sweating, Tom is soft burping and Cam is beautiful (Pythagoras would be proud).

Boston/New York:

Dearest People Who Are Reading This,

We write to you from the depths of Boston’s White Haus, where the foundations are solid and the cats have thumbs. We are three days into our international tour and we are all changed forever. Cam will be staying behind in the beautiful town of Windsor, Vermont, “The Birthplace of Vermont”. Neil hit his head really hard on a door frame.  Tom smells horrific, and Paul has just learned how to speak English.

We’ve had so many adventures it’s difficult to know where to begin.   There was the time we got drunk in Montreal!  The time we got drunk in Amherst, and tonight we are going to get drunk in Boston, high upon the Jamaica Plains.  We are excited by the prospect of sampling the shittiest beers that New York, Baltimore, Chicago and Detroit have to offer!

We love you all very much!

- DA BOYZSZZZZZZZZ!!!!!

Montreal and Amherst:

Hey children!

The gents wanted me to let you know that their new extended play recording, Talking Points, will slowly be made available in a variety of formats. Expect a Talking Points player to be posted in the music page very soon, and audiophiles will be able to download a lossless version for a modest sum. A limited edition 12″ record will be made available in the late winter/early spring.

The EP was recorded between June 2010 and January 2011 at ITA Studio in Chatham, Ontario. It was engineered and produced by Gay, mixed by Cameron Michael Murray, with additional mixing and mastering work being handled by Mathew Workman. The cover art was made by Jenna Mariash, with additional design work handled by Aaron Mariash!

Here it is! This is the official video for Gay‘s “Jungle Jim,” the first single from the gents’ new hodge-podge of recorded sounds, Talking Points. The video was directed by Aaron Kopff, and our heroes couldn’t be happier.

If you’re wandering about the Toronto area this evening, come to OZ Studios (134 Ossington) and help the band celebrate the birth of their new baby boy!

Big Bird wants everyone to know that the release of Gay‘s “Jungle Jim” is fast approaching. Tune in next Thursday, in the A.M., for the official online “reveal”. For those in Toronto, please join the gents that evening for the official release party at OZ Studios!

woop woop…

Karm

Hey peoples! The latter half of October just keeps getting busier and busier…

The gents are announcing two last minute, but super exciting shows going down on Halloween weekend. In addition to AvroFEST on October 22 at the Opera House, and the video release on Thursday October 27 at OZ studios, you’ll have a two chance to see Gay on Saturday October 29. The first gig will be part of Ghost Hole III, a festival that supports The White House Studio, Whippersnapper, and VSVSVS, three artist run centres in downtown Toronto.  Gay will wander to The Comfort Zone to take part in a special night of covers tunage. Who will Gay cover? Jeff Beck? Thin Lizzy? Rosemary Clooney?

Why don’t you come find out?

Well folks. They’re here. Stuff is still a little foggy…a little frightening. We’re going to try and get real digital on all y’all in the coming months, but for now…baby steps.

On to the news!!

The gents have lots going on. Here, let me prove it:

EXHIBIT A – Aaron Kopff (yes…THE Aaron Kopff…the one who second assistant directed Mr. Viral) has been most generous, both with his time and digital capturing devices, and has given birth to Gay‘s first music video. The video is for “Jungle Jim”, a song about Courtney Cox making salad with Wilford Brimley (whose first name is…ALLEN!). Our heroes will be celebrating the release of said video on Thursday October 27, with a special screening at OZ Studios (134 Ossington). The night will include a short set by Gay, along with a special performance by John Milner You’re So Boss. Drinking (the BYOB kind), dancing and frivolity will ensue. PWYC! PWYC! PWYC!.

EXHIBIT B – Word on the street is that an opportunist collective–pretending to be Paul, Cam, Tom, and Neil–have recorded something resembling a long EP, or a short LP, to be called Talking Points. Assembled between the summer of 2010 and the early part of 2011, the record allegedly features cover versions of seven Gay cuts. Details are scarce, but we can confirm that a cover of “Jungle Jim” is being touted as the first  official single from Talking Points. More to come…

EXHIBIT C – Well, errr…this website is something new…something going on. Explore, embrace, engage. There’s a little something in every section…and there is lots, lots, lots more to come.

Stay Tuned,

Karm
